17.00: Black smoke and flames are pouring out of a residential tower block on the Cambridge Road Estate.
One eyewitness said a colleague first noticed the flames at about 4.50pm, and said he could see flames from about two thirds of the way up one of the blocks, and many fire engines.
He said: "It's looking pretty bad. There are a lot of fire engines there now. The smoke is getting a lot worse right now. We can see flames. It is at least two thirds of the way up."
One eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, spotted smoke from Kingston bridge.
He said: "There's smoke everywhere, loads of it. It looks really bad. There's thick, black smoke all above Kingston. The traffic isn't too bad at the moment, but I bet it will be."
A helicopter has been seen circling above the estate and traffic has been reported backing up in London Road.
There are currently no reports of casualties.
