Burlington School win the Kingston Borough Chess Championships.

A team of six children from Burlington Infant and Junior School took part on Saturday 25th January in "The First Elmbridge Borough Chess Championships”.

The children attend chess club at Burlington School run by chess coach Mrs Gledhill.

The children played 5 rounds to eventually win the Kingston Borough Chess Championships. In fact the Burlington School children won not only the overall school title but they also won the individual under 7 title went to Izzudeen Shoubaki . The under 9 title went to Luciano Forlano 2nd place to Kavin Suthesan and 3rd place to Yousaf Khan. The under 11 girl’s title went to Thrisshs Suthesan Congratulations also to Daniel Havelock and Max Cartledge who were playing in their first chess competition.

The school is used to producing chess champions with previous pupils representing England and countless children playing chess for the county team.

Mrs Gledhill is very proud of the children and their achievements she puts their success down to hard work, good parental support and a love of learning.
