Hercules Wimbledon teenager Max Mondelli smashed his personal record at the annual Surrey Athletics Championships last weekend.

The 16-year-old stormed to victory in the men’s U17 100m final in 11.05 seconds, more than three tenths faster than his previous best 11.38.

The King’s College School pupil, who suffered a double leg break two years ago, is coached by former Olympic hurdler Lorna Boothe and will aim for the double at the Surrey Schools Championships next month.

Mondelli headed a quartet of Hercules Wimbledon gold medallists at Kingsmeadow.

Emma Headley, 15, took four seconds off her previous best to take the win in the women’s U17 1,500m race in four minutes, 50.48 seconds.

The youngest Hercules Wimbledon winner was 13-year-old Rechmial Miller, who stormed to victory in the boys’ U15 100m final in a lifetime best of 11.84.

Adam Magni won gold in the men’s U17 shot putt with a throw of 12.72m.

Silver medals went to Jonathan Osbourne (junior men’s 400m), Emily Martin (women’s long jump) and Liam White (senior men’s 800m and 1,500m), with Kieran White getting a bronze medal in the 5,000m.

Tim Livingstone beat the two minute barrier for the first time in the 800m but missed out on a medal.
