Fire may have destroyed their former home, but Teddington Table Tennis Club match secretary Adrian Collins believes the club has finally risen from the ashes.

Teddington were forced out of their St Mark’s Church Hall base in December and have spent the last eight months at the Twickenham Brunswick Club for Young People in Clarendon Road.

The move did not stop the first team finishing runners-up to Rosehill in the Thames Valley Table Tennis League Division One in April.

But it is the thought of beating much-fancied Morden that has Collins believing the club is finally back from the brink.

“The club was burnt down in December and it was a struggle to find a new venue,” he said.

“I have been a member of the club for 25 years and I cant ever remember us doing so well.”

“Morden had two teams in the top flight this year and they are the best club, so to finish above them is quite an achievement.”

The Division One success was built on high-scoring trio Richard Parke, Stuart Duggan and Joel Clancy and Collins - who were presented with their trophies this week - reckons that only bodes well for well for the future.
