Internationals Julia Bleasdale and Lucy Hasell helped Thames Hare & Hounds to see off the threat of relegation in the Surrey Ladies League on Saturday.

Bleasdale won the race in 21 minutes, four seconds, seven seconds clear of Hasell, as Thames finished runners-up to South London Harriers at the rescheduled final match in Lloyd Park, Croydon.

The result lifted Thames up to 10th in the final standings, well clear of danger, but Kingston & Polytechnic, Striders of Croydon and Sutton Runners went down to Division Two.

Kingston were relegated despite having some well-placed runners, with Rachel Burbridge 18th (24:00), Jenny Rice 29th (24:57) and Maddy Hardwick 30th (24:48).

Other Thames Hare & Hounds scorers: 31 Enfys Jones 24:53, 44 Anna Garnier 25:46, 46 Elizabeth Stavreski (25:53).

Sarah Murphy led Belgrave to third team place on the day, by finishing fifth (22:08).

Seventh-placed veteran Jo Ronaldson (23:01) led Rane-lagh Harriers to fourth on the day.

Epsom & Ewell Harriers’ Emily Alden won the Division Two match (22:00), from Clapham Chasers’ Emily Gear (23:09) and Hercules Wimbledon’s Steph Robson (24:13).

Hercules gained their best team placing, finishing runners-up on the day to Clapham Chasers.

At the end of their debut season, Chasers were promoted along with Ful-on-Tri and Runnymede Runners.
