Ham & Petersham Cricket Club are hunting down former players to help them mark the club’s bicentenary, writes Stuart Amos.
Ham Common has hosted village cricket since 1815 and the club’s first team currently play in the Surrey Cricket League Premiership.
The centrepiece of celebrations will be a cricket match with legendary celebrity team Bunbury on July 5, plus there are tours to Mumbai in India, Bournemouth and Yorkshire planned.
Second team captain Geoff Bond is keen to mark the occasion in style.
“The club is looking to contact past players and local people with stories about cricket on Ham Common,” he said.
“The club first played on the Common in 1815 making it one of the oldest cricket clubs playing continuously in the same place.
“The stories will be used to update the club’s history.”
