A Surrey charity has announced that the Epsom 10k run will take place on June 17.

The Butterfly Appeal was set up in 1991 by the late Roy Richmond MBE who was chairman of Epsom Coaches, to provide palliative care for residents living in the Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust catchment area.

The Epsom 10k run has been going for over 12 years now and has become a tradition for some runners.

In particular the Epsom Oddballs Running Club will organise the logistics in combination with the sponsor, National Counties Building Society.

Mr Richmond's widow Nancy, who is a trustee of the appeal, said: "We are grateful for the support we receive from National Counties; the 10k run builds awareness of the Butterfly Appeal and helps us to raise much needed donations through applications and sponsorship."

The Epsom 10k Run will kick off at 9.30am on Sunday June 17 from Epsom Market Place, for more information visit ncbs.co.uk/10k-run.
