I seem to remember seeing a letter a while ago that from Epsom there is a cheaper ticket than a Day Travelcard to London which is to London terminals which you can use to go to Waterloo, Charing Cross (via Waterloo East), London Bridge (which I used to do via Waterloo East) etc.
What is perhaps less well known is that there is an even cheaper ticket if you can go only using Southern trains i.e. to Victoria or London Bridge. I can only find it with difficulty on the Epsom ticket machines, it isn't on the first screen, the way I get it is to enter "find another station" and enter London Bridge.
Further to that, because Southeastern services from Charing Cross are not stopping at London Bridge until end of August 2016 (not being well publicised) National Rail tickets issued by Southern trains (including Epsom) to London Terminals will be accepted at Blackfriars, Canon Street, Charing Cross, Elephant & Castle, Embankment, London Bridge, Southwark & Waterloo (ref www.tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/improvements-and-projects/london-bridge-rail-station/from-January-2015)
