A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital following a crash with a van this morning.

The collision happened just before 8am outside the Chessington Garden Centre on the A243 Leatherhead Road near the B280 Fairoak Lane junction and led to the closure of the road for 40minutes.

Police and an ambulance crew both attended the incident.

A spokeswoman from London Ambulance said: “We were called at 7:45am this morning to Leatherhead Road in Chessington to reports of a road traffic incident.

“Staff treated one person, a 25-year-old man for ankle and facial injuries. He was taken as a priority to St George’s Hospital.”

As an ex motorcyclist myself I really hope this guy is ok and doesn't have any long term injuries. Strange coincidence that he should have this accident at the same time as the verdict from the coroner regarding Andrew Fitzgerald's accident on the same stetch of road. Hope someone in the highways department at RBK picks up on this and has a look to see if there are any similarities in the two accidents and whether anything can be done to prevent this happening in future.
