Mystery surrounds how a man was badly injury as he returned home from a Carshalton pub.

The 56-year-old man left the Coach & Horses pub on Thursday, May 3, at 7pm.

He was picked up by a cab driver near the BP petrol station on Green Wrythe Lane just after midnight, when an ambulance was called to treat his fractured cheek bones.

The man left the pub with two plastic containers of alcohol and remembers sitting in the park at The Grove in Carshalton before walking through North Street.

He claims he was assaulted and injured at some point between leaving the pub and being picked up by the cab driver, but has no recollection of exactly when and where the attack occurred.

The injured man is described as a white male, about 5ft 8ins, wearing a grey top and grey trousers.
