An eighties pop legend visited a Sutton church group.
Singer of the Only Way is Up, Yazz, visited Sutton Christian Centre on May 12.
She sang and spoke about her experiences since she first entered the spot-light in 1988.
Yazz shared how fame made her feel crushed, destroyed her marriage and evoked a nervous breakdown and series of panic attacks.
However, her life was turned around when she bumped into an old friend who had become a Christian and Yazz decided to follow suit.
Sutton Christian Centre’s Ministry Assistant, Ric Adams, said: “Yazz was brilliant, a really lovely lady.”
He said she demonstrated her interest and dedication to the audience as she arrived at 2.30pm, and didn’t leave until past 11pm, staying to speak to anyone who wanted to.
One fan brought a programme from Yazz’s original tour to be signed and Mr Adams said that, had the audience wished to continue speaking to her - “I reckon she’d still be there now.”
