A minicab driver who dragged a teenager into the woods and threatened to kill her before raping her has been sentenced to 11 years in jail.

Masood Ahmed, 26, from Seaforth Avenue, Raynes Park, attacked the 18-year-old girl as she walked from a friend’s house in Byfleet toward Weybridge on August 13, 2010.

During the terrifying assault, which left the teenager with 62 injuries, Ahmed put his hands around her throat and threatened her with a knife.

A jury at Guildford Crown Court this morning jailed Ahmed for a total of 11 years.

During the trial, Ahmed’s defence had claimed that the victim, who had been on a night out in Woking, flirtatiously suggested she could pay her fare “in other ways”.

But the prosecution dismissed this as a pack of lies and said it was a predatory and unwarranted sexual attack driven by violence from beginning to end.

They claimed Ahmed approached her from behind, tried to take her phone from her, then dragged her into a wooded area, where he subjected her to the ordeal.

At the end of the sexual assault, he forced her to urinate in front of him and leave the woods in the opposite direction, where she managed to flag down a passing taxi for help in Parvis Road.

Ahmed was arrested in Putney by Surrey Police officers, who tracked his vehicle, a blue Audi A6 registered with a taxi firm in London, just after 7pm on Friday, August 13.

On Tuesday, July 26, he was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration and making threats to kill.

At Guildford Crown Court this morning he was jailed for 11 years in total: nine years for each count of rape to be served concurrently, five years for assault by penetration to be served concurrently, and two years for making threats to kill to be served consecutively.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Hayes, of Surrey Police’s Major Crime Team, said: “I am extremely pleased with the sentences handed down today.

“This was a sickening assault by Ahmed who saw an opportunity to attack a lone woman in the quiet early hours and took it.”
