Police who were called to a report of a possible shooting have found no evidence of a gun being fired.
A member of the public alerted police at 3.54pm today, after they believed a shot was fired in Crescent Road, near the Kingsnympton Estate in north Kingston.
Officers used a sniffer dog to investigate a car which had a window smashed, but found no residue of gun powder.
Police believe the damage may have been caused by a small axe or a wooden pole, and nearby businesses said police had left the scene by about 5.30pm.
They are treating it as criminal damage, rather than a shooting incident.
