Kingston's Miss Selfridge and Burton store has been replaced by an Asian-inspired restaurant chain.
Itsu, which was founded by the same company as Pret a Manger, opened in Clarence Street on Saturday.
It launched its 50th restaurant in neighbouring Richmond in 2014.
The sushi chain received international news coverage in November 2006 when former KGB officer Alexander Litvinenko was poisoned with radioactive polonium in the Piccadilly branch.
Itsu operations director Said Takhampt said: "We’re excited to be opening in Kingston.
"We've opened stores in similar locations which have been very successful so we hope that our new site will be welcomed with open arms."
Miss Selfridge can now be found in the Bentall Centre.
