Underground tunnels are going to be costly and technically problematic in relation to other more practicable solutions to achieving cost effective and sustainable transport.
We should make ourselves independent of fossil fuels and focus on alternative means of transport, requiring less energy per person per unit distance travelled.
As usual, Boris Johnson fails to think of long-term consequences and concentrates more on achieving personal publicity.
If he proposed barring all helicopter flights and use of personal jet transport, that use obscenely high unit energy levels and pollute the atmosphere for 99 per cent of the population, then he would begin to get his priorities right.
