When Kingston Council decided to “update” the road system in Tolworth Broadway, did they ever think about how the new system would work?

Ever since this work was carried out, there have been traffic jams going back to Ewell Road and the Surbiton crossroad.

I can just about understand the traffic during the rush hour, but to take 27 minutes to go from King Charles Road to the A3 roundabout on a quiet Sunday afternoon really is extreme.

The main cause are the 11 parking bays on the lefthand side by Lloyds pharmacy and then the Broadway Bar, as this forces the traffic to go into one lane.

You then have the bus stop outside Marks and Spencer.

So, a plea to Kingston Council road planners – please spend time driving on this road and then you may make the sensible decisions of putting a red route along the left-hand side, reducing the width of the pavements and the central reservation and putting in proper stopping, pull-in bays for the buses.

By having two unblocked lanes, the traffic should flow more freely.

I am sure I am not the only one who has sat in traffic in Tolworth Broadway wondering what on earth the road planners were thinking of.
