Former chairman of the Kingston Liberal Democrat Party Mary Reid has been given an OBE for her services to the borough.
The Chessington resident visited Windsor Castle to collect the honour and meet the Queen.
Mrs Reid brought along her husband Ian, a former Kingston mayor and her two sons, Stuart and Duncan for the ceremony.
She said: “I was very fortunate as the Queen does not do many investitures these days, and is often represented by other members of the royal family.
“I was also very pleased that I was invited to an investiture at Windsor Castle as I was born nearby and my family has many connections with the area.”
