Vibrant rock three-piece Arcane Roots will celebrate the release of their debut album with an intimate home-town gig in Kingston.

The band, fronted by Andrew Groves, formed their current line-up in Kingston in 2009 when Groves and drummer Daryl Atkins were joined by bassist Adam Burton who had only just moved into the area.

Their first album ‘Blood and Chemistry’ is set for release at the start of next month.

The trio will play Kingston’s Bacchus club and perform an exclusive acoustic set at Banquet Records in Eden Street tomorrow (Wednesday, May 1) as part of their May headline tour.

Lead singer Andrew Groves says: “It’s always nice to come back, show our support and play for the Kingston fans.

"They were there from the beginning when we were playing show after show.

“It’s nearly always a mental crowd and at least we can guarantee people will turn up this time round.”

The 25-year-old also speaks fondly of Banquet Records. He says: “It’s great to give something back to Banquet Records too – they’re well-known up and down the country for being a great label.

“The support they gave us as a new band was exceptional. They lent us equipment for music videos and were especially helpful at our first run of UK festivals.”

Arcane Roots are now based in south London and have spent the last few years working on EPs and mini-albums during a series of intense studio sessions that were designed to establish their musical identity. Groves is also the band’s lead guitarist.

He says: “We always wanted to be a band that does it all. We played jazz, funk and blues growing up. Then later we got into metal, pop music and electronic – just everything.”

Arcane Roots experimented with a range of different styles, and drew musical influence from artists including KT Tunstall, Pink Floyd and Biffy Clyro.

The album was produced by Dan Austin through Play It Again productions and consists of twelve original songs, including 2 hidden tracks.

‘Blood and Chemistry’ will be available to buy from May 6. To buy tickets for Arcane Roots’ Banquet Records appearance, visit banquetrecords.com/ARinstore.
