Christmas in Kingston will begin on Thursday, November 18, when the Christmas lights will be switched on.

Celebrations will start in the town centre from 3.30pm, with music, entertainment and activities.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm by Father Christmas, the mayor of Kingston, Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock, and the Radio Jackie team.

Kingston Youth Big Band will be playing in the Eden Walk Shopping Centre, where there will also be the chance to enter the letter to Santa competition by posting letters in the special post box.

In the Bentall Centre you can have your photograph taken with Harry Potter, Hagrid and Professor Dumbledore, or visit Santa in his grotto.

Stars of the Richmond Theatre pantomime Sleeping Beauty and a roaming brass band will be in John Lewis, where wine tasting and facepainting will be on offer.

The Market Place will be transformed into a German market and choirs from Maple Infants, Tolworth Junior, Grand Avenue and Singing Hands will sing carols.
