Celebrating life in Hook

A WINTER fair is set to celebrate life in Hook.

The event, to be held at St Paul's Parish Hall, Hook Road, Hook,on Saturday November 20, will feature a photo contest and will turn the spotlight on world famous people who have spent part of their lives in Hook.

Children's author Enid Blyton lived in Hook from 1920 to 1924 and novelist Thomas Hardy spent the first six months of his married life living in the parish in 1874-5.

Organisers of the fair are hoping people will send in photos of Hook for a competition.

Kay Thomspon is asking people to send in prints no less than 20cms x 25 cms which show life in Hook over the past year.

They can be sent to Mrs Thompson at 27 Elmcroft Drive, Hook, Chessington KT9 1DZ.

The fair opens at lunchtime and refreshments will be available. The event is to be opened by Mark Davison, author of local history books, Hook Remembered and Hook Remembered Again.

Santa Claus will be in attendance and there will be a children's fancy dress competition.
