Introduction to Chessington North and Hook Safer Neighbourhood Team
Chessington North and Hook Safer Neighbourhood Team have been working closely with the Council and other partners to reduce crime and anti social behaviour in the area. We have succeeded in reducing crime again over the last quarter compared to the same period last year.
Our priorities over the last quarter were anti social behaviour by motorists on the A243 - Hook Road and reducing thefts from motor vehicles.
We have conducted a number of operations on the Hook Road to stop and report offenders. These operations have resulted in a number of drivers reported for speeding and using mobile phones. There have also been a number of arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicles have been seized for being driven without insurance.
Although motor vehicle crime has been reduced, we still find that vehicles are not being secured properly. Opportunist thieves will target unlocked motor vehicles as it is much easier to steal from them compared to ones that are locked.
The team have recently moved to the new permanent base in Hook Parade. Please note that this base is not open to the public, although meetings with members of the community can take place at the base via prior appointment and depending on the issue in need of police involvement. The nearest front counter facility is at Millbank House, Ewell Road, Surbiton.
Dates of Street Briefings, Police surgeries and forthcoming events can be found on the Metropolitan Police website and on the electronic screen in the office window.
