Croft residents hounded by speeding cars in the early hours

Residents near the Cox Lane industrial estate say they were hounded by speeding cars until the early hours of the morning last Thursday.

One resident estimated up to 40 people had turned up at Davis Road in the Cox Lane industrial estate to race motorbikes and sports cars until 3am.

The man, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals, said the racing started on a Thursday and continued until he phoned Kingston police on Sunday.

They attended and dispersed the group but the racers were back again the following nights.

Police again attended on the Tuesday, he said.

A spokesperson from the Crofts area Residents' Association said: “It's akin to having Brands Hatch [race course] behind your house.”

He claimed there was a lack of CCTV on Davis Road so any racing or antisocial behaviour was not being recorded.

Residents will meet on Tuesday to discuss the problem and other issues they want resolved in the Crofts.
