Twickenham tennis star Oliver Golding will focus on breaking into the senior ranks next year and is on course to return to Wimbledon in 2011 as a junior Grand Slam winner.

The 16-year-old fought back from a set down on Thursday to beat Argentinian 18-year-old Renzo Olivo 4-6, 6-4 6-4 to roar into the boy’s singles semi-finals at SW19.

Golding sent down a succession of big serves, which saw him push the speed gun to 128mph - one mph slower than men’s champion Rafael Nadal’s fastest this tournament.

The youngster, who faces Australian Benjamin Miller today for a place in Sunday’s final, believes he can one day make an impression at a similar level to the Spaniard.

And Golding expects to be rubbing shoulders with the senior ranks sooner rather than later.

“Obviously, Rafa is a bit better than me from the back of the court, which is why he is number one in the world, ” he joked.

“I’ve got a big serve, I’ve got quite a big forehand, so I’ve definitely got some tools I can use.

“I’ve got another year in the juniors, so I’ll probably play all the Grand Slams, but that is all the junior tennis I’ll play so maybe next year I’ll focus on the seniors.

“If you win (at Wimbledon) you get wild card into the men’s the year after, so I could be back in the main draw next year.”
