Director of rugby Conor O’Shea has warned this season’s Harlequins are a better bunch than the title winners of 2012.

O’Shea’s men finish more than 100 days of pre-season training when the Aviva Premiership kicks off tonight with Wasps the visitors, meaning they will be the best prepared squad in the club’s history.

Contrast that to the injury ravaged campaign of last term and the Stoop chief is bullish about his side’s chances of repeating their title triumph of three years go.

“We’ve got a really fit squad, the new people have added energy and we are excited about getting this club back to where it needs to be,” he said.

“We haven’t had a squad like this for a couple of years.

“It is the best group of individuals I’ve had since I’ve been at the club, but it is not the best team.

“The trick is to make it the best team and if we can do that we’ll be pretty good.

“With players like Tim Visser and Jamie Roberts still to come in during the course of the season, we’ll get stronger and stronger as the season goes on.”
