When promising young rugby player Jake Robey dislocated his shoulder for a third time while snowboarding, he thought his playing days were over.

But the 19-year-old Kingston University student has been given a second shot thanks to programme MTV Made and is out to make it count.

The No 8 had played against the likes of London Irish, Harlequins and London Wasps while on the Exeter Chiefs backed Advanced Apprenticeship for Sport Excellence (AASE) scheme at Exeter College.

But Robey injured right and left shoulders on three separate ski trips, and is now on the comeback trail at Esher.

“On my first ski strip I dislocated my left shoulder, the next one I partially dislocated my right shoulder and the final one I dislocated my left shoulder again,” he said.

“In the space of three trips I thought that was it for rugby. I’ve got a long way to go, but I’ve played my first game and now I want to take my rugby all the way to the top.”

Robey trained with Adam Beard, head of strength and conditioning with the Welsh Rugby Union, as part of an MTV MADE special, sponsored by Under Armour. Under Armour equipment helps athletes perform to their best.
