Thornton Heath's Duane Sinclair was crowned Queensbury Boxing League’s national light heavyweight champion last weekend, after brutally disposing of fellow challenger Dominic Felix.

Headlining the Kings Of The Palace show at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace, the 31-year-old claimed the belt after a vicious right-hand to the jaw of Felix in the dying seconds of the opening round, sending the Northampton man crashing to the canvas.

To Felix’s credit he beat the count and managed to regain his composure as he made his way back to his corner for the break, but the ringside doctor swiftly waived off the contest after it was confirmed Felix had sustained a broken jaw and was unable to continue.

The victory, Sinclair’s second in the televised competition, was without doubt his most impressive, and the newly crowed champion quickly turned his attentions to securing a rematch with Yisan Rodriguez - the only man to beat him in the competition so far.

Sinclair said: “I was expecting a tough fight and it got a bit messy in there, but I knew I’d hit him with a great shot.

"Now I’m champion I’ll face whoever wants to try and take the title off me.

“Ever since the loss to Rodriguez I’ve wanted to get the rematch as I fought the wrong fight, but I’m just going to enjoy the win now.

He added: "I’d just like to say a big thank you to all my coaches and supporters both at the show and the ones that sent me messages.

Sinclair’s big win will feature on British Eurosport early next month, to find out more go to queensburyboxing.co.uk.
