Boxer Lenny Daws is determined to produce a good performance when he makes his return to the ring on November 16.

This will be the 34-year-old’s first outing since losing a controversial European light-welterweight title challenge against Italian “The King” Michele Di Rocco in June in Italy.

Hometown favourite Di Rocco claimed an unanimous decision on all three judges’ scorecards, despite being cut in the opening round and put down on the canvas in the 12th and final round, much to the disbelief to Daws and his management team.

But Daws, who wants a re-match with Di Rocco, is ready to bounce back from the defeat.

The 34-year-old, born and raised in Carshalton, said: “That result has made me train a lot harder.

“I know that I shouldn’t have lost the fight and I should be European champion now, so I know where I’m at, where I need to be and I know I can even go beyond, it’s just a minor setback and I know I can go stronger.”

The former Rosehill ABC representative, pictured, added: “I am looking to box good, show my experience and show everyone that I’m at that level, I’m at European level and hopefully I give a good performance and it pushes me on to bigger things.

“If I can get another crack at it then of course I will take it, but I don’t think the Italians want to go near me, so I just want to keep winning and see what happens.

“I’m sure that a title will come, the main thing is in this game is to keep active and keep winning.

“I’m training really hard, I’m fit, strong and I’m looking forward to showing that in the ring.”

Daws’ opponent for the bout at The Glow, Bluewater, is yet to confirmed.
