Beddington boxer Charlie Edwards was left heartbroken after a cut above his eye ended his AIBA World Championship hopes in Kazakhstan.
After a dominant display saw off his first round -52kg opponent Olayinka Yusuff, Edwards was in confident mood going into Friday's bout with Simon Nzioki of Kenya.
However, Edwards sustained the cut in the first round and the referee stepped in to stop the fight, handing the win to the Kenyan.
Edwards tweeted: "Heartbroken. I got head-butted and cut in the first minute and was not allowed to carry on. I was winning and in control of the fight."
