Streatham Redskins to be a Swedish hit
1:06pm Thursday 26th April 2012 in Other Sport
Streatham Redskins are about to find fame in Sweden.
The team are to be beamed across the airwaves as part of Ladbrokes Sverige’s From England with Love campaign, which goes on television this week and is already on the internet.
The players, led by goalie Will Sanderson, talk about what it would be like to grow up and play ice hockey in Sweden, where it is a popular mainstream sport, compared to England, where it struggles to make headlines.
“We had a lot of fun filming the advert,” said Redskins defenceman Dave Carr.
“Will was a natural actor and Adam Mahoney is hoping to attract some Swedish fans with his amiable banter.
“A lot of the guys also enjoyed the sight of a Swedish film crew in the rink and I think we all had a good time.
“On a serious note, and despite us downplaying the sport here in the UK to follow the vibe of the advert, it just goes to show the opportunities that could now be presented to the club now we have a rink in central London with good lighting and facilities.
“I don’t fancy appearing in the next one, but it would be great if Streatham can build on this and utilise ourselves off the ice to strengthen the club.”
