Teenage striker Kiernan Hughes-Mason fired a hat-trick as Tooting & Mitcham began the new season with a 4-3 victory over Hendon on Saturday.
With a virtual team full of debutants, Mark Beard's new-look team got off to a flying start with two goals around the half-hour mark.
Hughes-Mason headed home the first before setting up former Godalming striker Phil Williams for the second.
Hendon replied quickly through Lee O'Leary and Lubo Guentchev then missed an easy chance to level the scores.
But Hughes-Mason restored Tooting's two-goal advantage moments before the interval and completed his hat-trick three minutes after the restart to make it 4-1.
The Terrors, though, were left hanging on at the end as Aaron Morgan pulled one back in the 54th minute and struck again with eight minutes. left.
