Walton Casuals boss Mick Sullivan has warned he will walk away from the club if the Stags are moved into the Southern Leagues, writes Stuart Amos.

The FA are yet to confirm the make-up of Ryman Division One South, with Sullivans’s Stags and Walton & Hersham thought to be among those waiting to see if they are shifted sideways.

Combined Counties League Premier Division winners Guildford City and Godalming Town are also thought to be in the running for a move into the Southern League.

But Sullivan has targeted a top five finish in Division One South next term and has insisted he will move elsewhere if Casuals’ league status changes.

“The club know my position and as far as I’m aware they have not made any overtures about moving league,” he said.

“It would make more sense for the two Guildford-based teams to go across than the two Walton clubs.

“If we have to go I will probably move on, because the Southern League – in terms of travel – doesn’t suit the group of players I want.

“The Ryman League is more competitive and, with some of the big teams likely to be in it next year, it is the place I want to manage.

“We are all in the dark until it is officially announced, but I’m confident we will be in the Ryman Leagues next year.”
