Mick Sullivan has warned his Leatherhead side against overconfidence after the Tanners picked up their first silverware of the season this week.
Leatherhead dumped Blue Square South new boys Dartford 1-0 on their own patch on Tuesday night, claiming the Ryman Charity Shield into the bargain.
And the Tanners boss admits the thought of peaking too soon has crossed his mind.
Sullivan said: “There is no doubt that wins breed confidence but we have to be very wary.
“We seem to be on fire at the moment but we need to be very mindful that no one really looks at pre-season results.
“We do not want to get too overconfident before the real stuff starts, and my job as manager is to make sure everyone is prepared and has their eyes on the Ryman Division One South starting on August 21.”
Kev Terry struck the midweek winner as the Fetcham Grove side added to their earlier pre-season wins against Dorking Wanderers and Crawley Downs.
And Sullivan admitted he has been delighted by how his side have got back into their rhythm.
He added: “We are getting the ball down and playing and our all round play at Dartford was magnificent.
“We are not a big side and for us to succeed we have to play a passing game.
“It is great to see that we have picked up where we left off last season - the personnel has pretty much stayed the same and there is a very strong team spirit.”
Two players who have moved on though are Luke Pigden and Michael Corbett, with Pigden heading to Carshalton Athletic.
