Kingstonian boss Tommy Williams celebrated his manager of the month award for September by kicking off October with three more points.

A Jake Kempton double and one from Dan Bennett secured Ks their best result of the season so far as they won 3-1 at high-flying Grays Athletic on Friday night.

The win briefly lifted Williams’ men in to the Ryman Premier League play-off places, before the weekend results saw them slip back to seventh.

The Kingsmeadow chief, who collected a manager of the month award once before while in charge at Carshalton Athletic, was honoured for securing four wins and a draw from five league matches in a month plagued by injuries and suspensions.

“It is nice to get rewarded for the all the hard work you put in,” he said.

“But this is a group effort. The players have shown some real character and togetherness over the past month.

“One or two have had to play out of position and others have had to play through injury to keep the momentum going.”

Ks host Billericay Town on Saturday before heading to Hendon on Monday.
