Striker Scott Hogan's match-winning double against Cardiff City at Griffin Park on Tuesday night meant midfielder Alan McCormack could celebrate extending his Brentford stay with a win.

McCormack signed a two-year deal in 2014 that included an extension clause until next summer should he make a certain number of appearances this term.

The 32-year-old Irishman made his 25th Championship appearance of the season in Tuesday's 2-1 win - which came courtesy of Hogan's late double - and took his total number of games played to 27.

McCormack was the supporters' player of the year when the Bees secured promotion from League One in 2014 and made 19 league appearances under former boss Mark Warburton last season.

Boss Dean Smith's Brentford are up to 13th in the table, having won four of their past five matches.
