Brentford's revival under Lee Carsley continued with a fine 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic at the Valley on Saturday.

The Bees third victory in eight days came courtesy of a sparkling performance which saw the visitors take control after John Swift scored his first goal for the club midway through the first half.

Alan Judge was at the heart of everything Brentford did, grabbing the second goal and teeing up Lasse Vibe for the third.

"I think we performed better at Wolves, all round. We controlled the game from the start to finish there, but we rode our luck her for the first 20 minutes," said head coach Carsley.

"I thought we looked tired and lethargic and were second to most balls. It wasn’t until we got our legs and energy levels back that we started to compete."

The Addicks should have taken the lead in the opening five minutes when Tony Watt broke down the right and his cross found an unmarked Franck Moussa eight yards out, but he fired wide.

Another break through the middle from Watt saw him release Johann Gudmundsson, but he could only shoot straight at David Button and the Bees scrambled it clear.

It was then Watt's turn to waste a good chance, after a Button kick was nodded straight into his path, but he shot just wide of the left hand post as Brentford lived dangerously.

The Bees gradually worked their way back into the match, with Alan McCormack having their first chance with a rasping 25 yard shot just over the bar.

Alan Judge then produced a great direct run down the left but was foiled by a good save from Stephen Henderson.

Captain Jake Bidwell had a rare sight of goal after exchanging passes just outside Charlton's box and shooting wide of the right hand post.

Brentford took the lead when Judge produced a cracking cross from the right and John Swift headed home from close to the penalty spot.

McCormack almost doubled the Bees lead just before the break with another powerful shot from 30 yards which struck the crossbar, after Judge and Marco Djuricin combined to set him up.

It took Brentford just ten minutes of the second half to extend their lead, when McCormack burst through midfield, fed Judge on the left and the Irishman planted a curling shot into the top right corner.

As Charlton looked for a way back in they switched play from right to left and Conor McAleny saw his shot pushed away by Button.

Ryan Woods did well from tight on the right touchline to skip away from his marker and send a teasing ball across the six yard box.

Gudmundsson had another decent chance for the home side, but shot over the bar from just outside the box.

Brentford put the gloss on their victory with a fine third goal. A cheeky header inside his own half from Judge saw him beat his marker, race away and fire a perfect 40 yard pass to substitute Lasse Vibe on the left, from where the Dane's low finish beat Henderson.
