Brentford new boy Lewis Macleod will have to wait a little longer to give Bees fans a flavour of why he was so highly rated north of the border.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who has not played since December 3, was boss Mark Warburton’s first signing of the January transfer window when he switched from Rangers for a reported £1million fee last week.
He had been set to make his debut against Rotherham United tomorrow, but has been ruled out through injury.
Macleod, who penned a three-and-a-half-year deal, scored eight goals for the Glasgow giants and earned a senior Scotland call-up before heading south.
And he is keen to prove himself in the Championship – when he is fit.
“I hope I can come in and do well,” the youngster told the club's website.
“The team is in a very strong position and hopefully I can add to it. If I can’t I will keep working hard.
“At the start of the season I wanted to bring more goals to my game. I’ve done that and, hopefully, I can add more.
“It is going to be a lot different here, but, hopefully, I can come to terms with it as quickly as I can.”
* Brentford development squad new boy Jack Warburton has just six months to land himself an extended stay at the club.
The 21-year-old midfielder, son of manager Mark, penned a deal this week after impressing in a lengthy trial.
“It is a short-term contract so I need to just put my head down and go for it,” he said.
“I am going be the best I can be and if I can get a new contract at the end of the season that would be great.”
