Young Bees midfielder Charlie Adams is hoping a move to League Two Stevenage can help him get regular first team action.

The 20-year-old creative midfielder agreed a one-month loan switch on Friday just 24 hours shy of Boro’s League Two clash with Accrington Stanley in which he came off the bench at half time to help inspire a 2-1 win.

Adams received news of the loan move just hours before meeting with his new Hertfordshire team-mates at the club’s Bradbury End Sports Ground training ground.

He said: “I only got the call at 8am on Friday to advise me of the loan move to Stevenage, which came as a nice surprise.

"It was an unusual day for me as I had to drive to west London to pick up my boots, then drive to Stevenage to make the 11am training session.

“While at Brentford, I’ve been working hard in training, and feel that I am ready to make the step-up from the U21s to establish myself as a Football League player.

“It’s been great to play under Mark Warburton and the other coaching staff at Brentford. The set-up at Brentford is great, and is conducive to the development of young players like myself, which I am hugely grateful.

“However, with a new ground on the horizon and promotion to the Championship, it brings an extra layer of expectation on the club.

"What’s more, the team has been doing well, which makes it increasingly difficult to establish myself as a first team regular, which is why I believe the loan move to Stevenage will be good for me."

He added: “The playing surface and facilities at Stevenage are impressive.

"As a player who looks to get the ball down and attack the wide-line, that’s important, so I am really looking forward to the challenge and helping Stevenage to push on.”

Fellow Bees youngster Josh Clarke, 19, has also agreed a one-month switch to join Westley's men and Warburton was delighted the pair would be getting some much needed first team experience.

“We welcomed Graham Westley down to the training ground last Thursday to look at some of our younger players," he said.

“I am delighted Josh and Charlie have the opportunity to be involved at Stevenage and it will be great for their development.

“Both Josh and Charlie have excelled at Under-21 level and they are more than ready for the challenge of playing League Two football.

“There are many benefits for the pair of them being involved at that level.

“They have gone on a one month youth loan which gives the option to extend their stay if all parties are happy.”
