Bees boss Andy Scott made good his promise of bringing in a goalkeeper capable of pushing Derby County loan signing Lewis Price for the number one jersey this season with the capture of Nikki Bull from Aldershot Town.
The 27-year-old shot stopper called time on his seven-year spell at the Recreation Ground to put pen to paper on a one-year deal with Brentford on Monday.
The news came 72 hours after Scott confirmed he had captured the signature of defender Alan Bennett on a deal keeping him at Griffin Park until 2011.
The Bees chief had been sweating on the 28-year-old's decision, but the former Reading man has since claimed there was never any doubt he would be staying.
Bull has over 250 appearances for the Shots to his name and insists he is not moving to west London to simply warm the bench.
"The club has a young manager making a good name for himself in the game, so it is a good move at the right stage of my career," he said.
"I had chances to move on before but I'm now ready to step up and in doing so I don't want to just sit on the bench.
"I want to be the number one so it should be good competition as Lewis is making a good name for himself."
The Bees' centre forward injury jinx struck again on Saturday with new striker Ben Strevens likely to miss the League One kick-off at Carlisle after 29-year-old turned an ankle at Hayes & Yeading.
Brentford dismissed their Blue Square South hosts 3-0, thanks to a Myles Weston brace and a strike from Spanish trialist Daniel Lucas.
