Party pooping Dagenham & Redbridge stars Sam Saunders, Ben Strevens and Danny Foster would be welcome additions to Griffin Park, according Bees midfielder David Hunt.
The trio, who have all played in excess of 100 games for the club, are reported to be on the verge of completing a switch to the League Two champions having turned down repeated offers to spearhead the Daggers’ promotion campaign next season.
Former Carshalton Athletic midfielder Saunders, 25, netted the opener in his side’s 3-1 triumph at Victoria Road last season - a result that delayed the Brentford’s promotion party until the memorable triumph at Darlington four days later.
Defender Foster, 24, and 29-year-old striker Strevens were also thorns in boss Andy Scott’s side that night, but Hunt insists there are no hard feelings and believes they would be good additions to the squad.
“You have to say they were good team, played well on that night and deserved to win, “he said.
“I have no idea what Andy’s plans are with regard to signings, but I would think they are the right sort of players we should be looking at.”
Scott is also reportedly tracking the situation of Hunt’s former Shrewsbury Town teammate Ben Herd having missed out on Northampton Town defender-cum-midfielder Jason Crowe because of his wage demands.
The 23-year-old former Watford trainee made 26 appearances for the Shrews last season, but fell out of favour after Christmas before being released in May, and Hunt reckons Scott could do worse than bring him to the club.
“Ben’s is not bad and he would certainly be an asset to our squad,” he added.
Meanwhile, Brentford have confirmed they will be entering a reserve team into the Totesport.com Combination Central Division next season.
