AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley accused referee Darren Handley of lying over the amount of injury time played at the end of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient.

The Dons had hauled themselves level against their 10-man hosts with 10 minutes remaining, thanks to Adebayo Akinfenwa, and looked odds on to take all the points back to south-west London.

Orient boss Ian Hendon was unhappy with John Marquis’ sending off in the second half, but Ardley was more concerned about the amount of time played at the end.

He said: “The referee lost total control of the game. He told me there would be five minutes injury time, and he’s put five minutes on the board.

“Then in that five minutes Leyton have had a substitution which took about 90 seconds and their goalkeeper was booked for time-wasting.

"And the game finished five minutes 30 seconds after full time, there should have been about seven at that point.

“He [the referee] then lied to me and told me his watch was different, and that’s disappointing.

“I am sure both managers will be putting in a report.”

The Dons are without a game until December 12 when Stevenage are the visitors to the Cherry Red Records stadium.
