Former Kingstonian manager Alan Dowson took no satisfaction from putting a severe dent in his old club’s Ryman Premier League play-off hopes on Monday.

Goals from Brendan Kiernan and Ryan Newman saw Hampton & Richmond Borough beat Ks 2-0 at the Beveree to leave the Beavers three points from league security and Ks four points adrift of the top five with three games to go.

Dowson, who won the Ryman Division One South title with Kingstonian, spent seven seasons at Kingsmeadow before resigning last summer having failed to secure promotion to the Conference South via the play-offs.

And the manager insisted the only thing that mattered to him on Monday was getting three points for his relegation threatened side.

“I got no satisfaction at all from the fact it was Ks we beat,” he said.

“I’m the Hampton & Richmond Borough manager now and all I was worried about was getting three points. It did not matter who we were playing.

“It felt no different to when we beat Harrow Borough or anyone else.

“I met and worked with some great people at Ks and have good memories, but I have moved on.”
