Seb Brown knows a thing or two about relegations scraps and he believes Hampton & Richmond Borough have the edge on those battling the Ryman Premier League drop.

The 25-year-old shotstopper, who famously helped AFC Wimbledon in to the Football League and helped them stay there, signed for the Beavers last month on loan from Bromley.

Brown has helped ex-Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson’s men collect four points in his four appearances and the team now sit four points above the relegations zone ahead of the Easter weekend.

Hampton head to Billericay Town tomorrow before hosting Dowson’s former club, who are in a very different scrap at the top end of the table.

And Brown, a regular at Kingsmeadow with the Dons prior to his departure last season, thinks Hampton – who have a good record against clubs in the top five this term – are capable of putting a dent in their promotion hopes.

“Having seen what we can produce in the last couple of matches we are looking stronger and stronger,” he said.

“Set pieces are still an issue but everyone is spurring everyone on. From what I have seen confidence in front of goal has been a problem, but we are making chances and it is now a case of taking them.

“We have got the points on the board. When we were scrapping at Wimbledon to stay in the Football League, people would say we had games in hand.

“It is in our hands. Monday is a bit of a derby. I know Kingstonian well because of my time at AFC Wimbledon and I am aware of Alan Dowson and his teams.

“We should be OK [to stay up]. It is not like we have got a run-in against all the top teams.”
