Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann praised the performances of Glenn Murray and Jason Puncheon after the Eagles beat West Ham 3-1 at Upton Park on Saturday.

Murray, who started for the first match since Palace’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham in January, put the visitors ahead four minutes before half-time with a header from a Puncheon corner.

Dann doubled the advantage shortly after the break with a powerful header, while Puncheon bagged a trio of assists on 63 minutes when his free-kick was glanced in by Murray.

Palace’s 31-year-old striker was sent off six minutes later for a second yellow card but the Hammers could only score a consolation goal with the Eagles’ defence standing firm.

And Dann was particularly impressed with the Eagles duo, who combined to produce two goals.

He said: “You know what you get with Glenn.

“If you give him decent service in the box he will more often than not put it away.

“He probably could have had three or four goals today.”

Dann added: “He made it really difficult for them and allowed us to get further up the pitch – that was part of the game plan.

“He was a bit unfortunate to be sent off and he’ll be a big miss come Tuesday.

“We scored from three set plays.

“Jason’s deliveries were excellent, he’s got that quality.

“If he puts that sort of delivery in we’ve got to try and get on the end of it.

“It’s something we’ve worked on with the manager and I’m delighted I got on the end of one today.”

Dann, who has now scored four goals this season, also commended Palace’s form on the road which has seen them win every game away from Selhurst Park under new manager Alan Pardew.

He explained: “We’ve been on a good run away from home and it was another big performance today.

“We haven’t picked up as many points as we should at home and we’re disappointed with that. We would like to transfer some of our away form into home wins.

“I don’t think we’ve been playing badly at home, we’ve had chances but never really took them and today we took our chances.

“They (West Ham) haven’t been getting the results that they would like but they’ve been playing well at home, so to put in that performance against a good side away from home is something we’re delighted with.”

Crystal Palace will be hoping to continue their fine away form on tomorrow night when they travel to St Mary’s to face Southampton – follow @NewsShopperSprt for match updates.
