On the back of two successive wins, AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has admitted he has no idea what to expect from the trip to Newport County tomorrow.

Inconsistency has been a thorn in the Dons side – after winning back-to-back games last month, Dons went on to collect just one point from 12.

Now they find themselves in the same position having beaten League Two pace-setters Burton Albion and Morecambe.

However, Ardley firmly believes they have instilled a new mentality in the side that, if it continues in Wales tomorrow, will stand them in good stead to pick up a third straight win for the first time in 17 months.

He said: “After the Carlisle draw we felt very flat and so we spent time working very hard our team mentality and defending as a team.

“Last season we were not scoring many goals, and we have rectified that, and maybe we have left ourselves open at the back.

“But since then we’ve really tightened up and conceded just the one goal at Accrington, in a game we deserved to win.

“You never know what to expect in this league, but if we can keep the momentum going, then we’ll give ourselves a good chance.”

Ardley has Matt Tubbs back from suspension, but is likely to be without Andy Frampton, who has suffered a set-back in his recovery from an ankle injury, and Jack Smith.

However, academy star Ben Harrison will continue in his defensive role after impressing in the past three games.

“We’re proud of our academy players, and Ben has done very well since coming in,” Ardley said.

“Tom Beere has also made his full debut this season, so we’re doing it right.”

He added: “Part of the reason I was brought in was my experience with youth players, and I always said I would give youth a chance, I just knew it would take time.”
