Brentford boss Mark Warburton is considering ditching his Mr Nice Guy approach when it comes to arguing his case with the men in black.

The Griffin Park chief was left fuming after Tuesday's 3-0 defeat to Norwich City that hinged on a penalty decision that never came when Alex Pritchard was felled in the box.

Norwich, who went 1-0 up when Alexander Tettey fired home after a loose pass out of defence from James Tarkowski, doubled their advantage when Cameron Jerome - who would go on to add the third goal - headed home with Bees players still appealing for a spot kick at the other end.

Defender Tony Craig got his marching orders in controversial circumstances against Birmingham City earlier in the season, while Brighton & Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk could have seen red in Brentford's 3-2 triumph at the weekend.

And Warburton reckons it is about time the tide turned in his side's favour and is contemplating a less polite approach when it comes to dealing with the man in the middle.

"Maybe we are too polite and too respectful," he said.

"I get phone calls from people saying well done to our bench. Maybe we let the players down in that respect.

"I don't want my staff to go ranting and raving at officials. That is not the impression I want to give about our club.

"We are better than that, but maybe we need to look at that."

He added: "I don't want to be perceived as a small club. Everyone talked about Norwich being able to go top of the table if they beat us.

"But I did not hear too many people mentioning we could possibly go second.

"We are not small guests at the party. There are a lot of very good players in that dressing room."

And Norwich boss Neil Adams admitted the scoreline had flattered his men, adding: "We were tested to the limit by Brentford.

"They will cause a lot of teams problems here."

The Bees head to Middlesbrough on Saturday and Warburton is confident they can put the disappointment behind them.

"The players will be very keen to correct an injustice up there," he said.

"They are top pros. They've shown their quality, their work ethic and professionalism.

"They will be fine, but it is a case of getting rid of this disappointment, which is hurting right now."
