New Year's Day Wimbledon Common 5km Parkrun results

Over-40 veteran Andy Robinson kicked off the new year with his second victory in the Wimbledon Common 5km Parkrun last Thursday morning.

A field of 89 braved the near zero temperatures, 16 of them achieving personal best in the event’s second anniversary race.

Robinson, of Thames Hare & hounds, clocked 17 minutes 47 seconds to finish nine seconds ahead of Rory McMahon of Lancaster & Morecambe. Unattached runner Matt Hall (18:20) was third.

Liz Wynn of Serpentine made it six wins out of six attempts in the women’s race clocking 18:49.

That was 143 seconds clear of Zoe Phillips, with Wimbledon Windmilers’ Charlotte East a further four seconds behind.

West 4 Harriers’ Marion Rayner produced the day’s best age graded performance in finishing 45th.

In the points competition, Ian Higgins has a lead of 531 points over second placed Colin Harris. Nicola El Kadiri leads Geraldine Hellings by 274 in the ladies competition.
