Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper led the tributes as the club’s U18s bowed out of the FA Youth Cup at Wolverhampton Wanderers last Friday.

Youth team boss Stuart Searle’s boys missed out on the opportunity to host Reading in the fifth round as they lost 5-0 at Molineux.

The young Blues defeated League Two Yeovil Town and former Premier League club Burnley on their way to reaching the fourth round.

“The youth team did the club proud,” tweeted Cooper last week.

“You can leave the competition with your heads held high.”

BBC London sport commentator Phil Parry also tweeted: “What a #FAYouthCup run they’ve been on. Still deserve massive credit.”
