Kingston AC & Poly Harriers’ dominance of the Lily B League and Cup is all down to team spirit, says co-manager Julie Reynolds.

The youngsters won the cup final on Saturday at Kingsmeadow to complete a league and cup double for the second consecutive season – and the third time in the past four seasons. Moreover, Saturday’s cup win is the fourth on the bounce.

The cup comprises U13, U15 and U17 competitions, and Kingston came out on top with 310 points on the day, 38 points ahead of second placed Guildford & Godalming.

Reynolds said: “All the athletes have done amazing, and how they all work together as a team is fantastic.

“Their success owes a lot to team spirit.

“A lot of the girls will step in to do events they would not normally do, and that really helps when it comes to getting more points.”

She added: “The girls come from all over the area, but when they are together, it is all about the team.”

Reynolds and co-manager Mary Dimbleby are stepping down, leaving new co-manager James Bell with a healthy inheritance.

He said: “Throughout the three league matches and the cup match, there were many great individual performances, too many to mention all of them.

“This is the third time in the past four years we have done the double so it is quite an achievement.”

Over the season, a dozen Kingston stars have made the top 10 rankings in Surrey:
