Walton Casuals’ future continues to look bright after the Juniors scooped the FA Respect & Fair Play Youth Club Award for their involvement in girls football at the recent Surrey FA awards ceremony.

With seven girls sides forming part of their 38-team set-up ranging from U6 to U18, Casuals are hoping to expand even further as talks continue over the proposed Waterside Drive Sports Hub.

The new stadium would give over 400 children a permanent home ground, as the teams currently play every weekend across the local area in a variety of locations.

Club President Frank Scannella was joined by club treasurer and wife Jo Scannella to collect the award at Selhurst Park from Crystal Palace assistant manager Keith Millen, in an evening which proved the development of Walton Casuals and their junior section.

“The award is not only highly deserved for everyone ranging from the coaches and players to the parents, but also marks the importance of the club within the local community,” said a club official from Walton Casuals.

“In a time where we are always looking to the future, and how children in the community can benefit from such facilities and the club, this accolade has demonstrated the success first-hand and we are delighted for everyone involved."

The girls teams at the club currently range from the ages of 6 to 13, and have made extensive improvements over the last few years.

Starting out with a single team a little over 10 years ago, the club now reach out to a large number of girls to offer the opportunity to represent their local club.

Walton Casuals Juniors also now offer a female futsal and male disability team.
