A duo from Teddington Swimming Club (TSC) will be competing on the national stage after a successful weekend at the London Region Open Water Championships.

Suki Griffiths, 12, claimed her place in August’s National Open Water Championships by swimming the 1.5km course at Surrey Quays, London, in 24 minutes 20 seconds to be crowned champion in the 12 and under category.

Clubmate Thalia Poraos, 14, had already qualified for the championships in Sheffield before finishing second over 1.5km in 20:41 in the 14 and unders.

Thirteen-year-old Freya Shaw won bronze in the same age group, crossing the line in 22:10.

In the 16 and under age group, Nicole Brenner, 15, took silver over 3km in 42:08, and in the 15 and under age group Emma Green, 14, finished fifth in 42:57.

Elsewhere, a pair of TSC siblings brought home four medals from the Optima Racing Team Aquathlon at Pools on the Park in Richmond on Saturday.

Alice Patterson, 14, won gold in the girls’ 16 and under group, while her 12-year-old brother Jacob won silver in the 14 and unders.

Eleven-year-old Jessica Mayer took gold in the 12 and under group, and brother Josh, 10, won silver in the 10 and unders.
